Really? Madrid seems mostly cool throughout the year. Only three months see hot averages. And only month seems oppressive (July, 32C/19C). Rest of the year is rather mild to cool.
Sydney Observatory Hill as it is a C, its just slightly too hot from December to March, otherwise perfect. Best month is July.
Madrid is a D, it has way too hot summers and too dull winters. Best month is February.
Really? Madrid's winter higs average 10-12ºC with 3-4ºC lows, with a decent amount of sunshine hours. Madrid has lots of date palm trees all across the city and all across the area surrounding Madrid. London's climate is oftenly described with mild winters, or cool at most, while it's significantly colder and 3 times cloudier than Madrid is. I would say that Madrid has a cool winter, but not cold at all.
About the summers... Madrid's average highs go from 28 to 32ºC and their record extreme is 40ºC. I hardly doubt that's very hot given their low humidity during summers. Just as Ethereal said above, I see as well Madrid with a mild climate, with mild to cool temps during half of the year. They say the earth has an average temperature of 15ºC, that's exactly the average temp of Madrid.
After saying all of this, Sydney has a much better climate than Madrid does so my vote goes for Sydney. Sydney's winters are like 10 times better than Madrid's ones... but Madrid is not bad at all.
Get over it he thinks Madrid's winters are cold... some people think Miami's winters are cold too... Madrid has cold winters, cry me a river please.
Although Madrid has somewhat better temperatures, Sydney wins because Madrid is far too arid.
