Only 1 yr. 1931. Rare they dont hit freezing at least once in November. Records since 1887.

Only 6 yrs it happen once for the month. That means 122 yrs they hit freezing 2 times or more.

Something like 30 yrs hit freezing 10 times or more in November .

Most was 20 times in 1976

^ Nice stats! November 1976 actually had an AVERAGE low of 32 F, the following January averaged 35/17, about fifteen degrees below average.

I hope to not live to see that ever. Months like that never happen except In 1977 , look at the record you won't find a month like it. While years like our warmest winters happen more often. What made 77 so damn cold.

New York City has had Novembers and even Decembers that have never gone below 32f, as you can see in the NYC's hottest months thread

It's definitely unusual, but not unheard of. Madison had a high of 45, some places were a little lower. There were snow flurries in parts of the state today.

If you want more extreme, look at Duluth airport's weather this month. 92 degrees and then 0.1" snow a week later.

Here are a few snowstorms that have hit the upper midwest in May. I'm sure there are many more, especially if you go west a bit.

2015 was pretty damn close to the winters of the late 70s actually, closer than I would ever like to see again in my lifetime. It didn't help that I was going from NYC, where the average winter highs are like 40f, to Binghamton, where the average winter highs the past few winters were 20s and even teens. I was shellshocked by the Binghamton winters

January 1977 here was characterized by a complete absence of any warmth, the absolute max for the whole month was 42F. In February 2015 we still had a day reach 60F, therefore they aren't comparable IMO.

And February 1978 never got out of the 30s.

42F was our max for February 2015, I didn't even think it was possible for our average high to be our absolute max. That entire month was just hellish.
