Now is a good time to download the app and report your precip type no matter where you are in the U.S. It will help them determine whats happening. Very easy to report with smartphone

Focusing on my area for a sec.

#s are the surface temps... colors are the mid level temps. Anyone south of that line but is below freezing at the surface, its Ice or Sleet. Anyone north of that line is either Snow or Sleet.

MA all below freezing. Looks like it will start as snow there. Have to watch that line and how fast it moves north with the warm air filtering in!

Follow it here.

From an hour ago... If this was straight snow, we would be well over a foot right now.

LaGuardia, JFK and Islip & Newark reporting sleet. Teterboro reporting rain and sleet. Linden & Morristown reporting snow. Not sure about that.

Mid Level still below freezing. Surface is cooling down. I see a little "green" push now into NJ.(warmth)

Freezing line (according to RUC or RAP model) is still in South NJ. Cool winds from the East.
