The Little Ice Age started a long time earlier. It doesn't make sense to blame it on anything that happened during it. Something had to start it. And how would lack of sunspots cause supervolcano eruptions?

Has there been research to associate ice ages in general with supervolcanoes happening just before each of them?

No Supervolcano alone create the little ice age, I don't say that sunspots cause supervolcano eruption.
