The second map is a bit misleading since the highs have been up and down but mostly average, it's because of the cool nights that it looks so bad. It's the opposite of what happened in early May. The days were cold and disgusting but it didn't show up on the stats because the nights were mostly average, and I think daytime highs are a much better indicator than nightime lows

You're right, for NYC. 8 lows in a row below normal while highs are mixed.

But for other areas its actually both max and min. Like Albany before today 7 days in a row below normal both max and min. Many other areas too.

How many times have we seen NYC seasonable or above average but Upstate New York below average? Seems like it happened so much since April 2015. I wonder what is casuing Upstate NY to be so cold but not NYC

Odd to note that the dewpoint was 71 this afternoon but only 52 F right now. Unlike the typical summer day where highest dewpoint readings are in the evening.

Sounds like you need another example.

Philly 6 out of last 8 days below normal on the max. 7 of the last 8 below normal on the min.

Not just upstate NY. Entire northeast felt it past week. I hate using nyc because of its urbanized heat glove which only gets worse. Hard to judge by just nyc. Thats why the map is good to see the overall scope of things
