I noticed over the drought area that Concord, NH continues to have extreme departures from average for highs on the order of 8-10F. Soil type is a factor over the airport there as it is quite sandy pine barrens area. Sandy soils (when dry) heat up rapidly during the day and cool off rapidly at night. With an 8.00'' deficit there that appears to be what is happening.
