Louisville has the same average low as Raleigh so far this month, 74. At Lexington it's 71. Quite warm for us.

Bignhamton was way below average in snow (I think we only had like 11 inches going into February) but then we made up for it and then some in April...And people still don't think that April is a winter month in Upstate NY lol

Yep, this is the highest ever for us. I like warm nights a lot as that's when plants do a lot of growth.

it is INSANE to think April is a winter month, especially as someone knowledgeable about weather.

For Rochester, NY
January avg. 25.2
February avg. 25.8
December avg. 31.6
April avg. 46.7

That's 15 degrees warmer than December and 21 warmer than January! If you go by average highs, April is 25 degrees warmer than January. It's crazy to think that April is winter when it has a high 25 degrees warmer than a winter month and halfway between the coldest and hottest month.

Aprils lowest ever Max is 21. That's just ten degrees colder than the AVERAGE max in January.

April has a record high of 93, higher than some ENTIRE YEARS have reached

August gets snow and freezes in some high elevation places. Paradise, WA has 5.6" of June snow. Rochester averaged less than 4" in April, and many years see none. BY YOURE BS REASONING, F*** JUNE IS A WINTER MONTH IN SOME PLACES. Thats the same month with the SUMMER SOLSTICE.

April gets about 13:30 hours of daylight. June has 15:20. January has 9:20. April is far closer to June.

I'll repeat this again: spring is defined by WARMER TEMPERATURES AND LONGER DAYS AND IS BETWEEN WINTER AND SUMMER.

April in Rochester is much warmer than January or February, has much longer days, closer to the length of summer, and is right between the coldest and hottest month and is closer to the summer solstice than the winter solstice.

Let's see what you can come up with for April being winter...

Rochester's April high is lower than the JANUARY high in Barcelona, although Barcelona is at about the same latitude. That is NOT springlike weather, Rochester's April is like an average winter month for most locations at its latitude. And not just western Europe, Rochester's April is equivalent to winter in places like Argentina and New Zealand

So rochester's July is suddenly not a summer month because somewhere in Europe is warmer?????

I'll say this again: Spring is not defined by being within a certain temperature range or relative to other locations, it is defined by a transition period from winter to summer marked by longer days and warmer temperatures.

It may not feel like spring, but April in upstate New York is definitely spring.

Broke 90 again today, didn't think we would, just north of the airport it's been in the low 80s all day because of storms. The temp gradient is sharp.

Rochester's April averages really look like some Central Argentina July, and its March looks like July for most of Patagonian Towns.

That's what I was thinking, Rochester in April is about the same as July in Trelew which is at the same latitude, and just a tiny bit warmer than Comodoro Rivadavia which is at a significantly higher latitude. For someone who comes from Argentina, Rochester in April will feel shockingly winterlike

But it would feel less wintery than January.
