Things happen so slowly here in Malta that it's almost going backwards... We moved here in December 2013 & brought our cat with us. He had to have the correct paper work/pet passport etc.. & we were met on arrival by a government vet who had to scan our cats microchip & check all the paperwork... Now 2 years & almost 5 months later we get in the post our cats certificate of registration from said vet

Also my partner is half Maltese & he applied for (dual) Maltese citizenship which he is entitled to. Over TWO years ago he started the process, getting copies of birth/death certificates going back three generations, as well as lots of other documentation & paid over 200 euro... Still nothing... Yet the wonderfully corrupt Maltese PM, Joseph Muscat, has been SELLING Maltese passports to ANYONE with half a million euro (mostly to Russians, Algerians & people from the Middle East) & they get them straight away! Surely this in itself must be a breach of EU laws, but hey this is Malta & no one tells the Maltese what to do

Wow, what a corrupt little island! The idea of wanting to move there is slipping away when I hear some of your stories of the government there.
Any regrets about moving there?

I don't think there's anything more annoying than watching the Marlins play.

Longest I ever walked was 12 miles, but I should get extra credit for most of that being wading in ankle to knee deep water. Also, I hiked 10 miles with a 2000 ft elevation gain in British Columbia.

It is really corrupt here... The government is also currently caught up in the "Panama" scandal, with the PM refusing to sack those named, most probably because he is in on it himself.

I do have regrets sometimes, but I don't plan on staying here forever anyway. The government are not the only negatives...
