Which city is the hottest sauna in the world, that is consistently extremely muggy in the hottest season? I'm not talking about a Persian gulf city that might get a day or two of extreme heat index caused by the humidity and wind direction from ocean, btw.

Extremely sticky and boiling days and really sweltering and steaming nights.

Is it Bangkok, Houston or Shenzhen? Or someplace else?

Hong Kong, Shanghai, New Orleans, Taipei, Hanoi...pretty much eastern Asia and Southeast USA.

P.S. Bangkok is tropical (therefore summery all year round). I'd say places like that shouldn't count.

I think "hottest season" would have been a better term I should have used.

But I think we have a winner. I thought Persian gulf cities would only occasionally have high humidity, but I was wrong. Bandar Abbas, Iran sees 120 degree+ heat indexes all through July and August. The heat index very often doesnt dip below even 120 degrees even at night! That's what I call a sauna!

Crazy. It just goes on and on like that every day all of July and August, pushing 50 degrees C++ heat index every day.

In the non-desert cities, it seems Chennai is more humid in the hottest season than even East Asia and Southern US.

Nouakchott, is easily one of the muggiest. This is with weatherspark and 2016. 2016 was relatively normal, D.P a bit high in Aug and Oct.
Max/Min, Max D.P/Min D.P
July: 31/25, 25/19
Aug: 33/26, 27/21
Sep: 35/26, 26/19
Oct: 36/26, 24/15

Spring/Summer (humid at night)
April: 34/20, 18/6
May: 34/22, 20/9
June: 35/24, 22/11

It isn't muggy or humid all year round either. Winters (Dec-Feb) average around -2 to 10˚D.P (min/max). 7 months of humid and 5 of mostly dry. Also a great climate in my opinion, although way too humid in summer Sep-June is great. Just July and August are in my opinion too humid, still a few degrees lower with D.P and it would be an A. B+

Yeah, that's correct.

See this thread: //www.city-data.com/forum/weath...nts-world.html

Looking at that thread, the winner would be Bandar Abbas. Jask is even more humid but is smaller in population. There is a place that Guajara mentions (Sirri Island in the middle of the Persian Gulf) that has an average dp around 28.5C (83F) in August, but it's uninhabited.

thanks for that!

What do you think the most humid non-desert city in the world would be? Is it Chennai in May and June?

During July and August, Kolkata is probably one of muggiest places in the world.

I think that southern Mexico and northern Venezuela/Colombia can get muggier than most southeast US (Florida and gulf coast are debatable). However it would interesting and decisive to see avg. dewpoints for those locations.

That's quite muggy! The climate is bad enough that it hampers development in this part of Colombia which makes the region very poor and violent. Pretty much the entire Colombian west coast is like this
