October is warmer, it's pretty obvious because snow in April is very common but snow in October is almost unheard of. Can't even remember the last time it snowed.... wikipedia is saying .1 inch average but I don't think I remember it snowing in October, ever.
October record high is also higher than the April record high here. UK record high for April is 29.4C, in October it's 29.9C. Locally, record high in April is 26.1C and in October 28.6C.
Here October is warmer than April though I much prefer April because it is drier and sunnier with more varied weather. You often get maxes around 5C and snow and air frost but also days reaching 17-20C. October is normally dull and wet with maxes stuck between 11 and 15C. Snow is less likely and real warmth but last year did see 21C on the 21st whereas this April ,which was an awful cold and wet month, failed to reach even 15C. It was a rare example of April being worse than the previous October.
October averages 60/42 and April averages 56/37 so October is warmer. However, October is a much more stable month. The record high in April is 93, while it's just 91 for October. April regularly gets into the low 80s, while October usually only gets to about 80. However, April gets snow a few times per month while October snow is quite rare. April often had highs in the 30s or even 20s while October usually only falls to the low 40s and has sometimes not even recorded a freeze. October averages warmer, but April gets warmer.
April by far. A little further south and inland, even March is warmer than October, like Torpshammar for example. Both March and April are superior to November with more sun, stronger sun, and longer days.
Edit: Lmao, I thought we were talking about November, not October. I even got a rep despite saying both October and November... October is warmer in Umeå, not in Tavelsjö though.

I think it's generally only in Subpolar and Tundra climates that April (Northern H) or October (Southern H) is warmer.
Winter sets in earlier in these climates due to short to non-existent days and super low or non-existent sun angles
