Yeah the sun is starting to break thru the clouds. I wonder if the daytime heating will lead to more storms building up later today.

There was a confirmed tornado with that storm. Looks like it did some minor damage.

I used to have this software that shows a 3D look at storms. You can see the structure, inside, find where the hail core is, how tall it is, how wide, where the heaviest rains are, ect. Cool stuff!

It's called GR2Analyst from Mike Gibson Ridge.

"CAT-scan type image w/ 3d structure of storm that dropped huge hail in Rockville. Explainer"
Washington Post Blog on this particular Storm.

The Whites and Pinks is the hail core. Notice its about 17,000 feet high! Storm itself was over 30,000 feet tall.

Getting some cloud to cloud lightning strikes. This is the first time I've heard thunder in over two weeks.

Looks like some intense thunderstorms in south Louisiana.

Edit: just saw a CTG strike.

Litchfield county (Northwestern CT) is notorious for severe storms. Funny how they are also the ice and snowy box of the state. Lots of hills and highest of state there.

Saturday GFS showing 5500 cape there.

A strong line of storms came thru this evening. It brought some strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Some lightning, but not really that much.
