Another really hot day, and curiously right now temperatures seem to be high up to 1000 m
Now it is 10:40 am in here, and I'm going go write the temperatures of weather station of my valley from Turin toward the borderline with France. In brackets there is the altitude
Turin city center (239 m) 30.6°C
Rivoli (362 m, probably on a hill) 29.7°C
Avigliana (340 m) 28.3°C
Borgone (400 m) 28.5°C
Susa (520 m) 29.5°C
Chiomonte (813 m) 29.5°C
Salbertrand (1010 m, shadow side) 24.7°C
Oulx (1065 m, sunny side) 28.1°C
Bardonecchia (1353 m) 24.2°C
Sestriere (2020 m) 21.8°C
Mont Cenis Lake (2000 m) 19.3°C
It is really strange to see so similar temperatures for Turin and for the middle-high part of my valley, now I'm curious to see how today's highs will be...
I'm note used to quote my own posts, so my old post is under spoiler.
I quoted it for making it easy to compare the highs and evening temps of the same weather stations for today.
Today highs:
Turin city center (239 m) 37.5°C
Rivoli (362 m, probably on a hill) 36.6°C
Avigliana (340 m) 34.5°C
Borgone (400 m) 33.6°C
Susa (520 m) 30.9°C
Chiomonte (813 m) 32.5°C
Salbertrand (1010 m, shadow side) 30.5°C
Oulx (1065 m, sunny side) 32.4°C
Bardonecchia (1353 m) 29.6°C
Sestriere (2020 m) 25.2°C
Mont Cenis Lake (2000 m) 23.1°C
Right now (9:30 PM)
Turin city center (239 m) 28.6°C
Rivoli (362 m, probably on a hill) 28.9°C
Avigliana (340 m) 28.1°C
Borgone (400 m) 26.7°C
Susa (520 m) 28.0°C
Chiomonte (813 m) 25.4°C
Salbertrand (1010 m, shadow side) 24.6°C
Oulx (1065 m, sunny side) 28.1°C
Bardonecchia (1353 m) 22.8°C
Sestriere (2020 m) 17.3°C
Mont Cenis Lake (2000 m) 18.1°C
There are a couple of relatively high-altitude stations (Chiomonte, Oulx in particular) which measured higher temps than station at a 500 m lower altitude. In general, looking at their graphs the most of stations west of Susa had a sudden windy moment together with temperature rise and humidity drop just before noon, which makes me suspect that foehn wind could be responsible for a temperature rise of a couple of degrees in the middle and high part of the valley. Also, when I was outdoor at that hour I really had the impression that the wind was bringing warm air instead than cool one as it usually does.
