Do your coolest summer nights tend to occur on rainy, cloudy days? Or do they occur on cooler than average sunny days. Here, every summer night is roughly the same temperature. Obviously, the occasional rainy summer day is typically accompanied by a cooler daytime high, but not necessarily a warmer low. Summer tends to look like this:
Cool, rainy day: 70/55 rainy
Average day: 80/55 partly cloudy
Hot day: 90/55 sunny
Either way, the low temperature is about the same, so I can't really answer my own question.
Our coldest summer nights usually occur on northerly days in early June, when they can get down to 6-8c. Highs in these circumstances are usually around 15-17c (eg in June 2012). In July/August the coldest nights are around 10c, with highs of 17-19c.
Our warmest summer nights are around 18-21c, accompanied by highs above 30c.
The coldest summer nights here are usually accompanied by clear skies. I remember one night at the very end of August a few years back, the minimum was just under 4C (I believe 3.7-3.8C or around that), and the skies were completely clear, and the preceding day, if I remember correctly, was also clear but cool, with a high of 17C. It felt like autumn, and I don't remember a night that cold in August before. It must have been close to a record low. Felt very cold nevertheless.
On 3 June 2012 we had a maximum temperature of 9C, and a low of 6C (the max of 9C is the coldest ever for summer and the latest sub-10C high we've ever had. The previous coldest high for June-August, was 11C in June 1995).
Our humidity is the stuff of legends. On par with South Florida, though not as long of a summer season. In fact, this year, not sure summer is coming at all. It's still early.
