I'd say that using the 1981 start date makes more sense; very old data should not be taken into account, since urbanization and other factors have a huge influence on annual lows.

1981-2010 (period from which normals are derived) has an average of 39.9F if I remember correctly, of course, MIA is probably the warmest area in South Florida aside from Downtown Miami.

Even Miami Beach is 41F (2000-2016). Unfortunately there's list of missing data for that station prior to 2000 but by extrapolating from MIA mean minimums are similar.

July avg of 73.9 gives them c (64-73.9) and H for Asheville came out to around 90 or so, so C group, but as you can see, in a different climate than the piedmont, which Koppen fails as it puts Charlotte and Asheville in the same Cfa zone, and Boone, NC comes in as Dhd / Humid Continental Mild Summer

I have seen Asheville referred to as a Highland subtropical climate before. The system is not bad. But if Asheville is subtropical we definitely are. Also again. Memphis is more continental than here, larger temp spread, lower hardiness zones, lower record lows. Crazy.

Before I go back to my list, thought I would point out that ONLY Miami and Key West are Tropical under this system in the lower 48, Fort Myers, Naples, Stuart and West Palm Beach all come out as Bhb, and Ft Laudedale also comes out Bhb, but with an H=239.7! So Ft Lauderdale is right on the line just under it!

Raleigh seems to be right on the border of Humid Temperate Hot Summer (Chb) and Humid Subtropical Hot Summer (Bhb). H=119.553 for Raleigh, so they are right near the border of the two

Using the new averages in 2020 we will blow past it. Temps have warmed for 1991-2016 overall by .2, but January alone went up form 40.4 to 41.4. Will take some very cold back to back January's to bring that down, which is not likely. In the end Raleigh is a subtropical climate.

Jan has warmed by 1 degree, Feb cooled by .02, November cooled by .05, every other month warmed. December warmed by 1.3 degrees, July and June by. 05, may and April by .07, March and September by .04, August by .03, October by .02. This is on mean, and if the next few years play out the way they should and are not brutal like 2013 2014 and 2015 which brought the averages down alot in our winter months, apart from December of course, we can erase the negative departures on February and november. Nighttime Temps have warmed also.

I have one extra division to make to my system, if a climate's H comes out in the D group (0-59.9), but their coolest month is 32 or higher, it moves up to C group automatically.

I'm kind of lazy to do the math myself, so how would my climate be classified?

The all-time record high is 104°F and the all-time record low is about -30°F.
