Sometimes in your winter the temperature in Vancouver can be higher than in summer at same latitude in SH,thoses periods of Mild/Warm weather happens every winter in Both Hemisphere, that happens a lot in Patagonia, cities like Balmaceda can just be with 10C in one day and the other -20C or lower, just wait some days and I will post here the true Winter of Patagonia

Yes I know cities like Punta Arenas and Rio Grande can have like 10C in summer which is normal for them.

Windy in Nelson yesterday with easterly gusts reaching 126km/h (radio news report). It was absolutely calm here (35km away) with no wind at all. There were impressive wave cloud formations over Nelson, so I knew something was going down.

Not an unusual situation -had 160km/h gusts in Nelson about 5 years ago, and it wasn't enough to hear the wind chimes here.

A chilly start here this morning, with -3C and a clear but chilly feeling 12C now (1:46 pm).
