Yes I know cities like Punta Arenas and Rio Grande can have like 10C in summer which is normal for them.
Windy in Nelson yesterday with easterly gusts reaching 126km/h (radio news report). It was absolutely calm here (35km away) with no wind at all. There were impressive wave cloud formations over Nelson, so I knew something was going down.
Not an unusual situation -had 160km/h gusts in Nelson about 5 years ago, and it wasn't enough to hear the wind chimes here.
A chilly start here this morning, with -3C and a clear but chilly feeling 12C now (1:46 pm).
