I just wanted a controversial thing to say so I could post that gif. I knew at least one person (B87) would bite.
I know it's not that bad, but it still isn't up to what I'd like for summer.

You may as well say winter doesn't exist because it doesn't get to -20C with 10ft of snow... The UK is what it is, an Oceanic Temperate climate without great extremes, it also clearly gets 4 seasons, including summer & winter

yes the very cold hardy kind, not date palms. There was one at the local garden I visited, but it was killed in 2014. They may last a decade or so in Augusta, but will eventually be taken out. I would bet that after a few decades, just like in the 80's, the ones in Savannah will be taken out as well. There are no large CIDP's in Savannah. In fact I'd say they are the same size as the ones in the UK. Crazy that is.
What's so special about the southern US? It's the most backwards ass region in the entire US., and has poor winter averages. The US South is way overrated compared to New South Wales.
The averages are okay, it is the stupid negative anomalies in winter that ruin it. Going 20-30F below avg low temps is just ridiculous for a subtropical climate.

Lol he feels about the UK summers the way I do about the South's winters. Having such low latitude and decent winter averages wasted by the crazy winter departures is a downer for me.

So what. The days are longer, everything's green, and you see a clear difference in peoples' mentality during spring and summer compared to say - November. Ok, you might need a jacket in June at 1 AM, but it's still a stark difference from 0C and sleet.
And naturally I would want our summers to be warmer too, but let's take the best of it what we get.

"Super Silver" (Mexico) Brahea armata killed by 13F in 2014
Butia odorata x syagrus romanzoffianum (mule palm) killed by 13F in 2014
Livistona nitida (2014 13F)
Phoenix dactylifera (2014 13F)
trachycarpus Manipur (2014 13F)
Citrus Calamandarin (mostly dead after 13F 2014)
Eucalyptus viminalis (died 13F 2014)
keep in mind the record low in London is 12F. Augusta has gone lower than 13F. That isn't even close to the record low of -1F reached in 1985. What do you think would be left after a Jan 1985 winter lol?

Record low in London is 8 and some places just a stone throw away have gone subzero.
