Strong northerlies in the last few days. The Arctic High is in full force above Sweden. Still, no air frosts here although ground frosts were visible this morning at some places around here for some reason.
I'm actually surprised that temps are this mild during daytime however. Today saw a 12 C high. Admittedly, the expected high now is 13 C so probably a bit lower. It's usually fast dropping now, but I guess sea temps are still quite high in combination with strong sunshine and relatively short nights still. With the significant civil twilight we're still at more than 12 hours without night conditions.
It's still a weird pattern, usually winds tend to come from the south-west with low sunshine this time of the year so if this continues it may be one of the sunniest and driest Octobers on record
Latest Wunderground forecast shows possible 35 mph winds Friday night/Saturday morning with over 2 inches of rain.
In Savannah, they're forecasting 60 mph winds and almost 6 inches of rain!
It may be awhile until you drop below 70 F. If this hurricane does not bring you any cooler air after it passes, expect a long wait for some cooler weather.
TWC has some 69/70 F lows in the long range.
This happened last year too though, we had a couple of 69/70 F lows in the middle of October.
I'm currently under a tornado watch. I believe that's the first time it's happened while I've been in Norman. It's been pretty windy today, but I haven't seen any thunderstorms.
The Triangle could get 3-5" of rain from Matthew.
Here, in Aurora, ME...There is a Frost Advisory in effect from 3:00-7:00am (although there was frost on our windshield this morning, but not on the road)! Currently, 56F Degrees, Dewpoint - 43F, Winds, North 4MPH...Think of and praying for all of you in Florida and along the East Coast. who are anticipating Matthew! You've been on my mind and will remain in my heart!
It also reached 72 degrees on Christmas in NYC in 2015. Does that mean that December 2015 wasn't a winter month?
Seasons are a way of measuring time not necessarily weather (though they do go together, its defined by months and calendar dates) so no, April is a spring month, even if there's 4 feet of snow by April 30th. It's still is by technicality, primavera!
Also, you contradict yourself. If 72 degrees on Christmas during a specific year does not change December being winter, then 25 degrees on Easter during a specific year, does not change April being spring.

It's technically spring. Like technically, Manaus has a winter, and Base Esperanza has a summer. Technically it's true, but it certainly doesn't feel like it. It doesn't feel like the primavera in Upstate New York until May, and sometimes until even later. For example in 2015, we went from 30 degree temperatures in late April to high 80s just ten days later. What happened to the springlike 60s and 70s???
