Damn Iowa. Interesting climate in that state I have to admit. Even with zonal like flow at the upper levels these temps are able to happen. Cold mid Level temps and clear skies

For Kentucky.. 80s coming? Then there's the blast later next week. We'll see how deep it is. Could be a storm riding up the East coast based on orientation of the Jet.

16 million people live in metro-Moscow... and what? LA is a big city. It happens to have mild weather but even if it didn't, it wouldn't make much a difference. NYC is not that cold either. New Yorkers are harder and tougher than Californians, though. Maybe the weather has something to do with it? lol
Great post. I couldn't have said it better myself. I've said the same thing many times (though maybe not worded as eloquently as you lol) and I people tell me I'm "attacking" their preferences.

It's 86 F with a 68 F dew point, while not bad for October, I'm really getting weary of warm and humid weather.

We can't deny the pattern that is making my drool heavier. In my experience when I see a pattern change, things don't happen right away but there are signs of it. I started seeing the signs 2 weeks ago. Perfect timing IMO for a winter adrenaline rush.

GFS12z... Jet stream digs down in the East, cold air follows, front moving across and a storm develops along the front. Add gulf moisture and a sub tropical Jet stream and you get a storm to develop along that front and along the right axis of the Jet. In this case... Up the eastern SeaBoard says the GFS

This is Friday morning

This is Saturday afternoon. Strong storm over Philly. Tons of rain, nice strong winds in OV and Northeast. 540 thickness line digging south of Ohio. That blue is showing snow showers/snows.

Sunday evening... What do you get with a powerful storm in Quebec with enough cold air around? 540 line digs down to Virginia, note the blues over the Blue Ridge mountains there. And the ADKs and Whites with some snow showers. Cold air in the East,. These are getting stronger and stronger.

This is 7-10 days away.. just showing what the latest GFS is telling us. (not a forecast or to be believed!)

Canadian? Has the storm but it actually stays off the coast. and the trough with cold air is over central U.S not eastern U.S.

So could we be looking at a nice big storm in the Northeast next week in 7-10 days? Could we be looking at accumulating snows in Quebec and Eastern U.S mountain tops? Could we be seeing the coldest airmass of the season again? All are possible... right now my bets are more on the storm then the other 2. But should be fun to follow.

256 mm (10.1") in St Gervais, between Toulouse and Montpellier since yesterday evening. Around 100 more mm are expected there until tomorrow afternoon there.

Here on the Riviera we've only had light to moderate rain, but it's been pretty chilly, with daytime temps around 12-13°C (mid-50s). Certainly a change from 1 month ago and its continuous 70°F+ lows.
