Spring here just seems more prone to cold, while autumn is more prone to heat.

A repeat of that would be nice, but last year's warmth was way off the charts, I doubt LGA will go that long this winter. I'm happy we made it this far.

It's not out of the norm for the growing season to persist into December, our average first freeze is in the second half of November. Elevation, the Atlantic, and being on the right side of the Appalachians does help a lot.

Oh yes, I've seen heavy frost on multiple occasions while traveling east, I'm not sure about the Montauk/Hamptons area though, I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't seen a frost yet.

The fall foliage is still in the "past peak" or "fading" stage here. I think we have another week or two before I can classify it as "gone".

NYC averages a first freeze end of october/start of November and that's only the urban area and eastern long island. Anything longer is mostly UHI.

The average first freeze at all three of NYC's official weather stations are between Nov 19 and Nov 24. A freeze in late October, while very possible, would be quite early.

I just checked, to back my theory of it being UHI I checked Philadelphia and sure enough they too average a late first freeze. Makes me wonder what would the average first freeze be In say Wilmington with a UHI that large.

Here, in Aurora, ME, 29F Degrees, Dew Point 21F, Winds NW 12MPH - Low forcasted to be 16Degrees!
This coming week looks like we will have Highs in the low-mid 30s, Lows in the the low-mid 20s (except for Friday when they are expecting some ice)!

Awoke to a dusting of snow and another power outage (some twit smacked another power pole and left our community without power :-\!!! So, what does one do when the power goes out and there is no logical reason (especially weatherwise)? One goes to their local General Store/Restaurant/Gas Station - (BECAUSE they were smart enough to back everything up with a Propane Generator) and find out whatsup, have a trucker-strength, cup of coffee, and one of the best breakfasts to be found in the area (cooked by Janet), then, return home after the electricity is back on! The Community of Aurora, Amherst & Great Pond at it's best (except for the annoying twits who keep knocking out the power poles in our area)!
