here we can discuss everything relating to the location and placement of our nearby weather stations, and how it distorts the temperature readings and whether the readings are representative for the area they are meant to represent.
i'll start with gothenburgs, which is very poorly set up imo. it stands on a tiny patch of grass, littered with trash, and is surrounded by asphalt, squeezed in between an industrial area, railroad tracks and a major intersection.
personally i'd prefer to have the gothenburg station in slottskogen, an outdoor recreational area 2km south of the city centre. still very urban, but not as strongly UHI-influenced.

My area's main weather station is in the neighboring town of Islip, NY at MacArthur Airport, about 20-25 minutes away from me. The ASOS is located in a very grassy area, away from anything that may taint the readings.
My town technically has a weather station though, NYC's division of the National Weather Service is based here, along with the region's weather radar, although there's another radar in southern New Jersey that covers the region as well. There's also a weather station for a small airport, but I've only ever seen current observations and forecasts for it, not averages or records.

Ours is at Sky Harbor Int'l Airport, coordinates 33.433 N 112.000 W
It has become an incredible heat sink in the last 20 years, so these days, I tend to get my data from Scottsdale Municipal Airport in the suburbs, coordinates 33.617 N 111.900 W
It usually reads 3-4 degrees cooler during the day, and 2-4 degrees cooler at night, and it stops us from being warmer than Yuma (which I know we aren't simply due to latitude and elevation).
In Malta only one official weather station is used, at Luqa airport, though being inland in the southern part of the Island means it gets cooler minimums than the most inhabited coastal areas & in southerly winds it can have cooler temperatures than northern parts of the Island. Today for example Luqa reached 30C but here it got to 32C. It is also less humid than coastal areas...
There are actually several other Met Office weather stations dotted around Malta & Gozo, but only Luqa is used for official Malta data. The Met Office has recently updated its website & now features these other stations but only for "right now" data, it doesn't give any high/low data only 24hr rainfall data...
