I agree with this. The first 10 seasons of The Simpsons were great, but after that it took a nosedive. It became a show of stupid nonsensical plots and try hard attempt at humor. If it's on TV and I see it's a post season 10 episode, I don't bother. The first 10 seasons though, some of the cleverest wit and humor ever on TV.
Same with South Park, the early seasons were hilarious, the newer seasons take on too serious topics and it's just not the same. Like with The Simpsons, the first 10 seasons were the best. The show has basically become nothing more than social commentary. Yeah, some of the episodes in the later seasons are good, but most are just not really engaging.
On the contrary, I'm enjoying the newer seasons of American Dad more than the older ones.
I have the box sets from when I was a kid. I think it got into its groove in season 3, peaking between 3-8. It really took a nosedive at around 10/11, they just took it in the wrong direction. It was less about witty humour, and character-driven plots, and more about childish gags and far-fetched scenarios.
I still like South Park, although I wish they would tone down on the social commentary and go back to the simpler self-contained plots. Although it's still a funny show, and the commentary is often accurate TBF.
American Dad has become better overtime, while Family Guy, which is made by the same guy, has weirdly declined.
Yeah; American Dad is one of those rare shows that got better over time. I guess there's more you can do with plots when it comes to having the main character as an FBI agent rather than a fat, idiot, drunk lol.

An FBI agent, an alien, and a talking goldfish. The possibilities are endless
American Dad really got better with time and started coming out with better storylines than Family Guy. I think originally they wanted to use the main character as a macho, conservative strawman but eventually started to develop him as an actual character. Whereas Brian from Family Guy was pretty much the opposite
South Park really went into the ****ter the past couple of seasons. Especially those episodes with the tiny gray things bouncing around, wtf

Honestly.
Although, I don't think American Dad would ever be as funny as Family Guy in seasons 1-5, but it comes pretty damn close. Especially when you're high, that **** is hilarious.

I recommend watching Cow and Chicken while you're high.

I never got into that show. 10 years ago it seemed like everyone was watching Family Guy so I ended up seeing lots of episodes of it. Funny at times, other times just dumb.
I have the first 5 seasons of South Park and seasons 1-9 of Family Guy on DVD. Want to get South Park 6-10 and the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons.
Couple of things in Family Guy that piss me off are those ****ing Conway Twitty cutaways and the sometimes ridiculously long musical numbers. Otherwise love the show, especially the earlier seasons. I feel that the newer seasons are a step down, but not to to the same extent as South Parks and Simpsons.
