Looks like SC is the northern limit of these. I think they prefer swampy areas, that's why Piedmont regions don't really have them I suppose. I don't remember seeing any when I lived in North GA. Maybe extreme southern NC like Wilmington would have them?

Surprised they could survive Canada though.
I was talking about this kind:

And Newberry isn't really swampy. It's between Columbia and Greenville.

Ah, you're right. The American roach is the one I saw that flew. Surprised srfoskey hasn't seen it in NC.

And I forgot Newberry was in Upstate SC.

I've seen regular roaches, they just don't fly.

I adore butterflies and moths. What makes them so scary to you?

If it is in Canada then it has to be here also. I have seen many Cockroaches. Not sure if the ones I saw where that one .doubting the Wikipedia articleas it's range is not that extensive it seems.

partly because of traumatic reasons, but actually more of "came out of nothing"

I'm surprised you haven't seen them, we have them here.

I used to be scared of spiders but these days I'm not. Otherwise, 'creepy crawlies' don't bother me. I've never seen a cockroach but they don't look scary to me.

That being said, we don't get really big or venomous spiders here. If I lived in Australia, I'd probably be scared of them, lol. One reason why I wouldn't even like to visit Australia.
