For me, I couldn't go out the door without dressing up or at least looking reasonable.
A lot of people in council estates just seem to dress like this guy:

Even if they're going to a job interview

Well, yes that's my point. I wonder, though, why they don't make an effort to look presentable? It's just something I've noticed around the UK and I've always wondered why they don't bother. I mean, I'm sure you could get something respectable in Primark or Next or any other equivalent store.

It's a cultural thing. In the UK a lot of people take pride in being working class or poor, it's an identity. Whereas in the US everyone sees themselves as a temporally embarrassed millionaire

Well, I don't care about identity. For me, I can't stomach the thought of going out of the house looking as though I haven't bothered.

Decent pizza abounds in the Philadelphia area...

Even Delaware has Grotto's. Good pizza.

Had Chicago pizza (UNO) earlier this month. It was pretty decent. But nothing to go out of my way to get again.

It isn't unique to the UK, it is the same for many lower working class types everywhere. In the UK they are Chavs, in Australia they are Bogans in Malta they are Hamali...

I'm not referring to chavs. I just notice that they don't make as much of an effort to dress, for example, I've seen people walking around the local Tesco Express in nightgowns.

In the states poor people dress really poorly too. Actually everyone dresses up poorly outside the main urban areas lol, for college bros here the typical uniform would be sweatpants+oversized hoodie+backwards baseball cap. For girls the same, minus the cap, and sometimes they subsitute black leggings/yoga pants
