What is a "Tory Brexit?". Nobody seems clear on this, the "Hard Brexit" term comes across as propaganda.
Leaving the single market isn't a "Hard Brexit", it's clearly what the voters wanted. Staying in the single market will change very little, and will probably lead to unrest and a UKIP resurgence.
It might be what the voters wanted, but it isn't what people in London and other Remain areas wanted, hence a backlash in those areas.
And beyond that, Labour would probably take a less confrontational approach to Brussels and less likely to leave without a deal, so there's that.
Beyond Brexit and May being repellent to liberal Tories in London, there's really no other reason for the huge swing.
And of course plenty of kippers went back to the Labour fold because the party will respect the result (no chance they wouldn't). Labour did rather well to win over both Remain and Leave voters.
I would just like to make it abundantly clear that, not everyone in Northern Ireland voted DUP (obviously). I'll also say that there's a faction of society who don't care about religion and are perfectly happy to accept Abortion, Gay Marriage etc.
This is because once again at this time we have (once again for 9,000th time) English News Corporations spreading around toxic, exaggerated news of DUP and their views of equality/Gay Marriage and people will be thinking "oh, well they voted them in so they must support that". Well, no it's a tribal thing, they just vote for their tribe.
I'd like to draw attention to the Petition of Concern, which they have used time and time again to block Gay Marriage and so on.
I don't think it's fair to say that the majority of NI support DUP. Not going to disagree religion plays a big role in NI society so a lot of people will be against Gay Marriage etc.
Not sure why this is hard to understand anyway. I'm sure there's umteem hundreds of thousands of Brits who don't support Gay Marriage. Just look at the Church of England's recent dilemma.

It just shows that people love to make it out as though England is SO accepting and tolerant of difference.
The part where you said it was a tribal thing; shouldn't you guys be educated about who you're voting or do you really just vote for one party because your parents do? Here literally noone gives a sh*t, I've voted the opposite of my mum and grandparents heaps and they don't care, and neither does anyone else.
