I knew it was in this thread... in case you ask why I like Southerners so much. I'd consider my opinion pretty well-informed, even if I haven't spent a whole lot of time in the South.

Real Southerners are, generally speaking, awesome people. I can tell you that.
I think you need to spend more time in a place, particularly outside tourist areas, to really decide if you like a region. I don't dislike the south, but a lot of it seems culturally alien to me. Feel like we have more in common with English speaking Canada

No... as I explained in the post of mine I quoted, I've talked with enough people from around the country to have formed a valid opinion.

I don't think that's enough to gauge an entire region of the country.
Hard for me to relate to the south. Usually spent time in touristy places like Myrtle Beach and South Florida (which isn't culturally southern). I had family in Tallahassee which was undoubtedly southern and I have a cousin who lives in Sumter, South Carolina. Different world.

It ****ing is! I was on the phones for so long that I could learn to anticipate how civil a person was going to be to me based on their background. Especially when I was doing outbound calling and could already glean that info before placing the call (credit card fraud detection - lots of times people who'd just seconds or minutes ago had their credit cards declined at the point of sale).
