It's a mining town, I don't thing there's much else going on over there.
Hmmmmm.....well looks like Kuopio is the choice then lol

Eh, it's a fun/interesting "what if" scenario lol. Although I wouldn't be completely opposed to moving anywhere within Scandinavia considering what a joke the U.S. is starting to be.

I would never live anywhere with fewer than 100,000 people.
After living in an oversized/overcrowded city for damn near my whole life, I'm pretty done with big cities in general. I wouldn't mind being an hour or two outside a large city to go there from time to time for "entertainment" but as far as living in one....nah. I'm done with pointless traffic and an overabundance of people.

Just make sure you move to a place with basics like groceries, pharmacies, and a couple of pizza joints because it really sucks having to drive far for anything. Some rural areas are pretty creepy too, though I guess it's a lot safer than being in a ghetto.
Miami has about 400K people and Ft. Lauderdale has 172K. The metro has 5.7 million people, so only about 10% of the population lives in the two "core" cities of the metro area. Talk about urban sprawl.

Oh yeah I know, that's why I think a small or mid-sized city (population of 10-50 K) would be perfect. Small enough to not be super crowded and one could easily live out in the country, but big enough to have basic amenities.

It's not that I will likely move to Canada either, but I've already made my choices: Montréal or Vancouver.
Lyon in France, and you have made good PR for Leeds.

Indeed. And the mine is just enormous, ruins the whole landscape.

Funny - Lyon would be my choice in France as well. Lille looks nice too.
Canadian cities don't appeal at all really, but Montreal looks the most European. In the US, Boston looks good.
