It seems strange to me that opposition to the death penalty in this case is so high.

This says more than half support it, but since Democrats control the legislature, I don't see it happening:

Unsurprisingly hypocritical Republicans who are "pro-life" and always talk about an overbearing government supports killing its own citizens.

The death penalty is disgustingly barbaric and backwards. Shame that it's still practiced in this country.

Well I hope this comment doesn't jinx that....
because the letter c is in italics.

BTW, I calculated that if the US keeps executing prisoners at the current rate, you will reach the number we killed in those 2 years I mentioned above in around the year 2400. So keep the injections coming boys!

They rather have him rot in prison, nothing wrong with that.

too bad there's no curse words which could use my å, ä and ö. I can't get the Danish letters to work.

Use Swedish or Finnish curse words perhaps?

It looks like just a straight up "c" to me, hard to tell it was italicized at quick glance at first.

BTW, I'm against the death penalty completely. I find rotting in prison for the rest of your life, especially if you're a younger person, much more torturous and painful than just dying. I honestly think dying is the easy way out IMO, not to mention many prisoners end up on death row for 20, 30 years so the whole "death penalty being easier on taxpayers" stuff is actually bull.

Unless you're a complete socio or psychopath (which contrary to popular belief, not ALL murderers have those mental illnesses) you would likely feel a great deal of regret for what you did for the rest of your life.
