My latest sunset is 23:01. Imagine drinking in full daylight the whole evening.

You preferred finland timezone which would put your civil dusk (end) somewhere between 12 and 1 am though? And places like Orebro would actually have civil dusk at almost 1am in that scenario

Your latitude implies that moving forward timezone only move 1-2am light from dawn to dusk, which is kind of difficult if you have insomnia. extreme cases are NWT(inuvik) and diomede (alaska) with sunsets up to 3am near solstice - imagine waiting to that time for bed

Nope, Finland standard time and Swedish DST would be ideal. In that sense, summers would be just like today. In effect a permanent DST. I think the northerners would be less than pleased with that because of how dark their winters are but hey not too many people would be affected anyway

Interesting facr that if you have no dst, your sun angle would actually almost the same as Turku at around 1:15 (summer solstice night) or so. Turku's latest civil dusk is 1:12 am, while your earliest civil dawn would be 1:17 am

In my opinion a solar noon around 1:30 is usually optimum in summer while a solar noon around 12:45 is best in winter. The main problem I have with DST is how stupidly late the sunrises are for a portion of the year, take today for example. Sunrise at 7:31 and sunset at 7:28. If DST started around mid-April it would be much better. The difference between a 7:10 sunrise and 7:30 on is huge to me because of my morning schedule.

Adelaide is 30 minutes behind us. They should either go 30 minutes forward or 30 minutes backwards to be in harmony with the rest of the country. Honestly, the "in-between" time zones are really annoying (India, Iran, Central Australia).

Why? Adelaide and SA are reasonably appropriate being 30 minutes behind AEST. Going 30 minutes backward would be plain schitt, we would be seeing 4:30pm sunsets in winter with unnecessary early sunrises Not everything is about that holy grail Shitney

Brisbane is what needs to be looked at. 4:44am sunrises and 6:30pm sunsets near the tropics in mid summer? That is what needs to be examined and fixed as far as I'm concerned.

I'd prefer Finnish time over Swedish time too. Because of our latitude and long twilights, the dark period is kinda short and so the sunrises kinda quickly get to a point where they don't need to be earlier, whereas later sunsets always are appreciated. There's much less leeway in the sunrises than in the sunsets, and I care more about sunlight after school/work anyways than in the morning.

On other subjects, this whole weekend has seen sun and temperatures above 5-7'C, yet during that time, there was almost completely no melting except on dark surfaces such as roads. The snow wasn't even sticky in the shadows. Now however, it's only 1.5'C yet everything is melting rather quickly. Err, what? It's not even that windy, only 3 m/s.

Brisbane is the most ridiculous of the lot. Get this, the earliest sunrise in Brisbane is 4:44am!!! The sunset on those same days is around 6:30pm. That is just plain ****ing retarded. Imagine drinking under those conditions FFS. WTF is the point in a sunrise that early? Then you get home from work, have a shower and it's sunset - in mid summer. It is truly hilarious, during DST, Sydney and Melbourne are 1 hour ahead of Brisbane, even though the latter is further east. Heck, even Adelaide is 30 minutes ahead, despite being 15 ****ing degrees west!

Working out proper timezones is tricky as Queensland is a very large state, but I think the state should be 30 minutes ahead of the traditional AEST as their major population centres are all along the easternmost coastal strip, further east than Sydney and Melbourne.
Coming out of a club or bar at 4am during in June, and it's broad daylight outside! I hate it!

I just realized that Umeå Airport is recording some very curious temperatures. This night they recorded -10'C, whereas Holmön, an island just 40km away only recorded -0.7'C, but it's an island, so they're warmer during the winter and the nights? Well, Vindeln, 50km NW inland, recorded -2.9'C at 7 o'clock whereas Umeå recorded -7.8'C. Vindeln is a lot colder in the winter on average. Nowhere even remotely nearby recorded any temperatures below -3'C. Also, our University station only recorded a minimum of -4'C.

Örnsköldsvik's Airport is probably the closest climatically to Umeå, with similar distance to ocean, 100km south but 100m higher up from the sea. Holmön is geographically the closest, but with significan ocean moderation, still average lows in March are only 2.3'C warmer than Umeå's.
Here's March for Umeå, Örnsköldsvik and Holmön from left to right.

Fishy or nah?
