The Leeds Town Hall is definitely impressive, but maybe a bit too pompous for a city of that size. I'd understand if it was the London Town Hall.
I'm not a huge fan of the Massachusetts State House. I was surprised by its age, as somehow it looks a bit... plastic. For me neoclassical architecture and red brick is a huge no-no. If it was some other material, it would be very beautiful.
I like the Turku City Hall. You've seen it in many of my photos. Elegant, but not too extravagant.

snj90 and Wildcat15 live at least in some local small town.
Aside from Bignhmaton I've lived in big cities all my life. To me even cities of 600k-800k in population feel a bit "small towny". Altho I do think 600k-800k cities are the perfect place in general to live and settle down, just cause they're not as crazy as the big cities, but they're also big enough that you can go to bars and restaurants and have fun each day
Binghamton for me is practically a farm lol, there are apartment buildings in NYC that probably have more people than Binghamton

London City Hall:
Leeds Town Hall is no longer the seat of local government, and is mainly used for small music concerts and festivals.
Leeds Civic Hall is where the City Council meet these days:
Turku City Hall is nice, maybe a bit small but a solid building.

What is your opinion of the Parliament House in Helsinki? It's Nationalist Classical architecture, but sometimes blamed as Fascist architecture, or even "not even Hitler could've visioned something like this". What say you?
I wouldn't say it's ugly, but it is a little plain and overly-large.
Kind of curious, but am I the only regular poster around here who doesn't live in a metropolitan area (MSA)?
Well, I live on the far-flung edge of a very spread-out metropolitan area. It's part of that metropolitan area only technically, though. My area has much more in common with the smaller towns to the north of it than the city to the south.
Yeah, the London City Hall is a disgrace. An embarrassment.
The Leeds City Council house is neat. Surprised that there are only 99 councillors (compared to 67 in Turku), and that Labour has such a big absolute majority.
Come drive here at 5 PM and you won't be saying that. Over 300,000 people isn't a small town, just because it's not Chicago.
Oh, sorry. Somehow I remebered that you lived in a very rural area.
