I'm not going to Florida this winter for a similar reason.

My parents are going to Daytona the day after Christmas and it looks like they could have highs around 80 and lows in the 60s the entire week.

It's now 39F - that's +39F. We went from -20 to +39F in about a day. Blue sunny skies - can't believe it.

Things are going to get boring here so maybe we should take a trip to the Pacific Northwest where there are wind advisories, surf advisories, avalanche warnings, and Winter Storm Warnings.

Washington:

EVENING...

* WAVES AND/OR SURF...WAVES OF 19 TO 22 FT ARE LIKELY TO REACH
THE COAST STARTING LATE THIS MORNING. THE HIGHEST WAVES WILL
BE ON THE NORTH COAST.

* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...LA PUSH...OCEAN SHORES...WESTPORT.

* TIMING...WAVES WILL REACH THE COAST LATE THIS MORNING AND
CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING. WAVES WILL DIMINISH CONSIDERABLY
LATER THIS EVENING.

* IMPACTS...WAVES THIS SIZE CAN RUN FAR UP BEACHES...DAMAGE
UNPROTECTED STRUCTURES...AND OCCASIONALLY WASH OVER LEVEES AND
PUT WATER INTO STREETS.
Quote:
HE NORTHWEST AVALANCHE CENTER HAS ISSUED AN AVALANCHE WARNING...

LOCATION...THE WASHINGTON CASCADES AND MT HOOD.

AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER IS EXPECTED TO BECOME HIGH
IN THESE AREAS WITH A NATURAL AVALANCHE CYCLE LIKELY MONDAY NIGHT
THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT
RECOMMENDED MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
Quote:

CONTINUE THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: AN ADDITIONAL 4 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW IS
EXPECTED OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN TODAY.
