Euro12z Max temps next Saturday between 1-7pm. Mid-Upper 30s for Raleigh, NC. Now that's more realistic and believable. LOL
And remember, (something I didn't realize before) the "CORE" of the arctic air isn't diving that far south so the surface wont be as close to extreme as lets say Ohio Valley... But still -10C 850mb air mass over North Carolina is pretty darn cold for mid December. Normal is +3C!
40s for highs? Nice. Is that under a full sun? I hope so!!

Actually those maps don't seem to match what's being shown on the model that well, something I've noticed on forecast maps showing outside of the next few days. What's being shown on the Euro seems to match up more with highs in the Low 60's and lows in the mid 40's here than highs in the mid 60's and lows in the low 50's. We'll see anyway.
35 degree line in foothills, so somewhere around 38-39 here? Not crazy at all. About 14-17 degrees below average though. Lows would be in low 20s?
Yup, around 20° for foothills its showing Saturday morning.

Yup, Front moves in with clouds and showers Thursday and Friday then High pressure moves in overhead for entire Southeast for Friday night and Saturday... Gonna be couple of nice crisp nights if this happens.
Nice to see that the source of the cold this time will be BC/Alaska instead of the usual Ontario/Quebec
Yeah, I'm not a fan of its path but better than a south flow for sure. I think the source is from the Arctic, not Alaska though. Right?
And this is a great look at how the arctic air dives down into the U.S and also how the air moderates coming into Eastern U.S because of where it's entering but notice it still spits a blast of cold into the East.
After experiencing the 8th warmest November on record and the 2nd warmest fall on record, the first few days of December here in Indianapolis are expected to be at or below seasonal averages for this time of year, which to tell you the truth feels quite bitter considering how warm it's been until the last couple of daysI want the mild air back dammitbut I can't really complain for long because highs in the upper 30's or low 40's is much more 'typical' then those balmy 50 and 60 degree days I've been spoiled by, besides it is December in Indiana and this chill is nothing compared to what is to be expected this time of yearat least the forcast isn't calling for temperatures in the single digits or sub zero readings(at least not yet anyways), oh well, at least there is no brutal cold on the horizon, can't complain though, because the worst of the cold has yet to come this winter and that will really be a shock to my system after being bathed in unseasonably warm weather since June.
Wunderground now shows a low of 24F next Thursday night! NWS is showing 28F.
