So many people often think the Mediterranean basin has the best summers to enjoy swimming in the sea, sunbathing and so on, but for those who hate oppresive heat, like me, I rather prefer coastal palces with Cfb climates that are still great in terms of sunshine and warm temperatures but not so hot
Plus, all those places share with the Mediterranean basin just summer as the less rainy season, although there is not strong dry season at all.
I mean all the way from Porto (Portugal), where the southern bordeline between Cfb and truly Mediterranean climate is located for, to Nantes in France.

Well, al those places are boring from October to May or so because weather tend to be rainy, gloomy, windy just the same way it is anywhere north through the western European coast, but summertime hands down.

Nature and scenery is also great, especially because the forests, although it's typical for western maritime climates like the rest of western Europe, some trees that are typical from Mediterranean dry forest can be found over this area, which give them a great vibe.
Places like Landes (south of Bordeaux) with its huge pine forest are definitely the best. I would rather stay there during summer rather than either Faro, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Málaga, Benidorm, Mallorca, Marseille, Naples, Malta, Athens or Creta. Coastal northern African climates are even worse and warmer during summer. So, mediterranean climates during summer are overrated, though.

I would say also that this whole area is better than coastal PNW because SST is warmer by the Gulf Stream.

Porto

Much less precipitation than just up the coast in Vigo.

As Tom77falcons would say..an impressively mild stable climate for 42N
if compared to east coast of NA ....in China it would be about 27N to be as mild.
Porto is at same latitude as Boston.

Porto is just bordeline with Csa Mediterranean climate, so anywhere south is too hot and dry for my taste during summer, but for instance Lisbon, Faro or Cádiz are still okay during either late spring or early autumn.

Bordeaux, Nantes, and La Rochelle are the only acceptable climates. The others are way too mild, rainy, and gloomy. I'll go with Bordeaux for having the warmest summers and the lowest record lows. It also doesn't seem overly rainy or gloomy.

Isn't Porto Csb?

Anyway, I'll go with Bordeaux for being the sunniest in the summer.

All of the mentioned climates are really great, even Nantes is surprisingly good for its latitude. I'll have to go with Porto of course for being the warmest and sunniest.

Ugh, too much seasonal lag. August as the hottest month, July only second hottest, and some have September as the third-hottest. Also, they're too cool and dry. I'll go with Bordeaux, it averages 81 F / 27 C for a high in its hottest month and has over 6 inches of rain in the summer (June-August), also, while close, June is its third hottest month. I'd grade its summer a C.

Bordeaux / Landes area has really nice summer weather IMO. There is no shortage of warm to hot days and it is generally sunny and nice. Some cooler and grey days as well but nothing like northern europe. And they can get really nice weather in october or March-April as well, especially when the wind blows in the right direction. Best oceanic climate in the world along with maybe Portland.

Bordeaux, easily. La Rochelle comes in second for the sunniest summers.

Bordeaux for me. Warm and still a reasonable amount of rain, although a bit more wouldn't hurt.

Nice summers, but cursed with a grey season. Winters are too cold for a decent range of plants as well.
