Snow is quite rare in Puerto Montt,I dont know why because they use to get a lot of subfreezing lows through autumn/winter,countered 22 at or below 0c mins from may until september this year.
maybe because thoses lows only happens during clear mornings? who know.
Freezing mornings happen here, only if the skies are cloudless. Those mornings are pretty chilly, as they almost always come with a Katabatic wind. A -4C morning with a 10-15kmh wind is certainly a chilly start to a day.
My climate also gets rain at temperatures only just above freezing, quite often, yet no snow from that -perhaps the relatively warm sea during winter (13-14C) has something to do with it? - there is typically a 300-400 metre difference in the snow level between the coastal hills, and those about 20-30km inland, maybe the sea temperature impacts on the temperature at the 850mb level.
Forecast for today is 14/24C, with a heavy rain warning and thunder (just started) Wettest hill stations in the area recorded around 230mm overnight.

It might be out by a couple of days - the part that is shown above average for NZ, has snow forecast to 600 metres and maximums around 11-12C forecast for today,

Not saying the map is wrong, but it is almost the complete opposite for the forecast here.

Cool day here today. Max of only 18ºC. In Uruguay's side it was even lower. Also there were spotted some waterspouts in RÃo de la Plata, near Uruguay's coast:
