Looks like the case with Wellington, where the sea temperature is 1.2C cooler than here, but the summer minimums are 2.6C warmer. With the Cook Strait, I'd think Wellington doesn't get many still nights.

coastal California is still windiest at midday, but the nights are usually still have a light breeze.
