How many days a year is snow on the ground in Chicago? I saw a statistic that stated there are 43 days with an inch or more of snow depth, but that seems really low. This does not account for traces and I feel like it would seem like more than that with piles and such, especially in certain areas. What about in the farther out colder/snowier suburbs, such as Kenosha, Antioch, or Michigan City? Is snowfall and snow depth seem to be trending upward or downward with climate change?

You can see here that the northern suburbs do see more snowfall (and of course Northwest Indiana lake snow belt).

and here is Chicago's annual snowfall totals
