Hot summer afternoons are very common in the United States. Far north but arid locations can have July average high temperatures upwards of 90 (Boise, Idaho for example). East of the Mississippi there seems to be a limit at 92 degrees. Several cities have average July high temps right at 92, (Memphis, Jacksonville, Orlando) but it's difficult to find one surpassing the 92 degree figure. Which US location east of the Mississippi River has the highest average high temperature in July?

Augusta, GA has an avg high in July of 93.4F.

Columbia, SC, Macon, GA, and Albany, GA are also close to 93F in July.

I'm about 50 miles west of the MS River. The avg high in July here is 92.8F in July but 93.2F in August.

According to Wikipedia, Lakeland, FL has an avg high of 94° in July, and I believe it considering it's inland

Yeah average isn't a good indicator IMO. Southeast Try 1 month of 98+ and 5 months of 90+. That's about what it is and add the humidity drives the heat feeling up. Expect to sweat walking from your office to your car. If you work outside, expect your clothes to weigh 5+ lbs more when you're done. After a short 15 minute shower, expect it to feel like a sauna.

It wouldn't surprised me if inland SE Georgia, cities such as Waycross, Jesup, Hinesville, etc have average highs of 93-95 F during the hottest month.

In south Florida there's the station "OASIS RS" with highs of 93.5F in July and 93.7F in August. Also there's the station "BRIGHTON RSVN" which averages a high of 93.8F in July. Live Oak, in northern Florida, averages a high of 93.6F in July. A few stations in south Georgia also average highs of 93F including Waycross. (92.9F in July.)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waycross,_Georgia#Climate
