59mm overnight from a cut off low originating from the tropics. It's amazing how often these events occur during the middle of the night. Still no cold fronts for the month.

It just dawned on me that our last 20°C day was on the 24th of April. It was 23.4°C, and funnily enough, 3.6mm of rain fell followed by another 21mm the next day.

That's no good. We had several in May and one this month. MTD avg high is actually running 0.6C above avg, while the MTD low is 4.1C below!

MTD avg low/high is 0.5 / 17.5C at the airport. The avg high is 0.7C above avg, yet the MTD avg low might be a record cold (4.1C BELOW the avg) and the forecast looks like this: Renmark Forecast

Only 3 Mays including this one have never recorded a 20°C day in the past 47 years. 1983, 1986 and 2017.

I should specify that I live closer to the airport, and therefore use melbourne airport data

avg low/high at the airport MTD is currently 0.6/17.5C, corresponding anomalies are -4.0C/+0.7C. So far only 0.6mm of rain recorded, vs an avg of 20.3mm

At my PWS, MTD is 5.3/16.9C. The river, vegetation and wetlands really do create their own heat island. I'm literally right on the river bank. I've only seen very light frost a couple times on the lawn here. When I went to my desert astronomy location on June 2, my thermometer was down to -4.3C before I packed it in, everything was covered in ice, yet when I got home, no frost or anything, only dew.

I reckon about 80% of the palms growing where I live would be dead if they were at the airport or my astronomy site...

Forecast low temps not even close to the July avg!

A photo from where I've been the last few days. This shows cyclone damage from about three yeas ago. east and south facing slopes had this almost uniform look, while the other side of the ridges was normal -the estimate was around 110000 hectares effected like this.
