The east coast has stolen Perth's hot summers.

15.2 at 12:40 in early FEBRUARY. Cmon Perth you can do much better than that. And wunderground is predicting every day in the next 10 days to be below 31 degrees, absolute BS.

Just like the east-of-the-Mississippi posters' monopoly in the northern hemisphere thread.

It's a nice warm day in Sydney at the moment... 30C with a 20C dew point.

Wow, what a day of extremes in Australia. Unbelievable epic heat in SA did not underperform at all. Highlights include 47.8°C in Tarcoola and 47.1°C in Renmark. (Where's our reporter on the ground there anyway?)

Not to be outdone, Birdsville today marks exactly 2 consecutive weeks of daily temps in excess of 110°F (43.3°C). Looks like they'll be able to get to 17 consecutive days.

But seriously the lowlight has to be Perth. WTF is going on there anyway? High so far only 16.8°C which if it holds will smash the all-time February record low maximum by 2°C or more depending on which site you use. Still early afternoon there though, time still to warm up if it clears.

Meanwhile in Brisbane it was beautiful yesterday so it had to be perfect today. Why do people live anywhere else in Australia?

Just inland from Newcastle, this is what we have to look forward to on the weekend:

46°C*heatwave predicted

And look at the forecasts for Wallsend and Bulahdelah:

Wallsend Forecast

New South Wales 7-day Forecasts

Bulahdelah is in a funny spot, near the coast on the northern end of the Hunter and southern end of the Manning valleys, but protected from the seabreeze by coastal mountains.
All the heat just funnels through here.
At one stage it was predicted 47C for Sunday, this has been downgraded, but the 46C for Saturday is still on.
Singleton too has been downgraded from the 47C from Sunday, but Saturday's 46C is also still in play, which would equal the record there from Jan 1st 2006. (a day Sydney got 44.2C - one of only 3 days in history a mid 40s temp has occurred in Sydney City - Observatory Hill, along with Jan 14, 1939 and Jan 18, 2013).

It's a plot against Perth. Sydney is holding all the heat and we are sacrificing some of ours for average temperatures (even though today was 37C) to push all the cold crap to the west. We have had enough!

For a place with 23C avg highs to get 45C records is beyond insane. It's like the sea gives a walk over note whenever desert winds blow in...

Lol Hold your horse. If that were the case I would've been complaining right now. Today was 33C with dewpoint at around 18C-16C (to the lowest). Slightly humid, but fairly tolerable.

I wonder if there are places that average around 8C in winter and have record lows of -15C. I wonder if such places exist? Anyway, gotta ask this in the Weather Chat Thread.

In terms of average highs or lows or means? If the latter two I struggle to think so! If the former I can say Pamplona straightaway
