Minneapolis is coldest in January, but warms up faster, and has higher April highs than Boston.

All three are comparable in terms of snowfall.

April isn't winter. Minneapolis has the worst winter.

I would say that Minneapolis has the worst winter weather with Chicago being not too much better in terms of extreme cold and snow; Boston has the most tolerable winters due to the moderating effect of the Atlantic Ocean.

Yep: especially with those windchills of -40.

Naw...you'd hate L.A-Mex's version of our winters even more with our endless 90 degree days which none of the above locations have.

The only reason I'd even consider Boston in this thread is it's coastal location gives it a bigger chance of an "extreme" snowfall.....I think only Chicago and Minneapolis's top 1 or 2 snowfalls would be in Boston's (or NYC's for that matter) top 10.

But it also gives Boston a better chance of a "light" snowfall year with more in the way of rain than it does for Chicago or Minneapolis. And those latter 2 cities, especially Minneapolis, average out a lot colder. So I voted for Mini-Apple.

Reason....colder, more extreme cold snaps.

Minneapolis gets the best winter out of these with very cold wind chills, arctic air masses, and snow

Boston gets coastal snowstorms, clippers and cold shots

I chose Chicago as the worst of these because they are in bad position for Lake effect snows and need to be in perfect position for big snowstorms.
