You live in Rochester and it's never snowed in your lifetime this early before? How old are you?
I can't do links on this tablet but the National Weather Service statistics show average first snow for Rochester is Oct. 23 with the first inch or more is Nov. 8.
I just checked the NOAA's official weather records for Rochester, and every single November going back to 1995 has had at least a trace of snow before Thanksgiving. I say 1995 because I got tired of checking at that point.

How old are you? I remember snow in October maybe every 3-4 years on average when I lived there, and even trick or treating with everything snow covered one year (this was 80s&90s, I left in 2001)
The reason it snowed before Thanksgiving is because atmospheric moisture coincided with a cold air mass resulting in precipitation in the form of snow. And it was before Thanksgiving.
Are you all trying to confuse the OP with facts? Are you part of the liberal left? I bet you are.
