Apparently heatwaves are indeed the biggest natural killer in Australia.

'Everyone is under great threat': Call for cyclone-like categories for heatwaves

That's from this study:

Perhaps you're right. I could still swear that he's mentioned going back to Melbourne to visit somebody for a few weeks. I just don't see why he would lie about living in another, warmer city?

Yeah, I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to reconcile this. Maybe when they say deaths from heat waves, they refer to specific events, whereas deaths from the cold is over the course of the whole season?

Oops. So it is true then. Lol.
Don't listen to that idiotic dribbler. I don't actually live in Melbourne. Every time I say something bad about its weather, that retarded punce seems to have a go at me and start bull*** ragging on about how I still apparentlly live there for some reason, possibly because he wants my big dick, I don't know. Little twat always stalks me on this forum, last time pretending to be amused by my posts and being "friendly", this time a bag of dicks. I do infact live in South Australia. I'm heading back today, I was just visiting my bro for the weekend. Ignore that **** nugget dribbler

Yeah that was my understanding as well.

There aren't really any 'severe' cold waves in Australia.
Just found it interesting in all honesty.
