Both very good climates, but Denver gets the win here.
Shymkent gets too much rain in the winter and is a bit too dry in summer. Denver is too wet in the summer, but dry enough that it's preferable to near rainless summers.
The less rainy winters is a big advantage.
Finally, Denver is probably more variable and has a higher diurnal range and nice, cool summer nights.
Denver, the best large-city climate in the USA by far. Shymkent is too hot in the summer, warms up too quickly in the spring, and is too dry in the summer.
Denver's summer nights are too cool and I really don't like that -1 record low for June. Record lows for June, July and August should be above freezing for any city to make the cut in my view. (Or December, January and February in the Southern Hemisphere).
Shymkent wins this battle for me, Denver is too prone to extreme heat and extreme cold and is too dry for my tastes; Shymkent also is warmer year round which is another advantage.
denver. shymkent seems more stable, which makes for less interesting weather.
