One of the things we were taught in geology class in college was:
A single volcanic eruption anywhere on earth puts more chlorofluorocarbons into the atmosphere than all the aerosol cans used by human beings since their invention.
You were taught something incorrectly. The only chemically naturally released by volcanic activity, that could vaguely sort of be referred to as a CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) would be HCL because it can react with CO2, but youre still missing the fluorine.
Anyway, in 2006 they found that the trace amounts of CFCs collected during eruptions can be attributed to ambient air.
Frische, Matthias, Kristin Garofalo, Thor H. Hansteen, Reinhard Borchers, and Jochen Harnisch. "The origin of stable halogenated compounds in volcanic gases." Environmental Science and Pollution Research 13, no. 6 (2006): 406.
"This atmospheric fingerprint can be explained by variable amounts of air entering the porous volcanic edifices and successively being incorporated into the fumarolic gas discharges. Recommendation and Outlook. Our results suggest that the investigated volcanoes do not constitute a significant natural source for CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, halons, CF4, SF6 and NF3."
There is little doubt in my mind that humans are the cause of the accelerated growth of Greenhouse Gases in the atmosphere, globally, over the last 20-30 years, and are a primary cause of global warming. There is also little doubt in my mind that climate change and climate change impact projections at local levels are also highly uncertain in many cases. Both are established, well documented, climate science, but the public doesn't read much of the scientific literature and the second point is often hushed up by non-professional advocates of economically painful mitigation policies, the effects of which at local levels are subject to great uncertainty.
I'm not sure how much of an impact humans are having on the climate, or if such a thing can accurately be measured and contrasted with natural climate change.
I still want to know . We have the technical ability to monitor much of the world now. It should not be a mystery.
Everything from slight fluctuations in our magnetic poles, solar cycles, volcanic eruptions, humans raising livestock, etc, can have an effect on our environment and climate.

Well, according to NASA, the recent warming is not caused by the Sun or volcanoes but by human greenhouse gas emissions. Global Warming : Feature Articles
This was 25 years ago, I don't remember details, other than what we were told in geology class was that a volcanic eruption causes more damage to the ozone than anything man has done.

But we do not have historical data. We only are looking at a very thin slice of history, we don't know how to compare this with past ages or even with 200 years ago when no such data existed.

I honestly find this hard to believe. I think we vastly overestimate our impact. Global warming is likely a natural cycle which we would see if we had sufficient data going back several thousand / tens of thousands of years.

Wrong. According to NASA we have been cooling because of Volcanoes. This topic is Fun isn't it?
It's also Fun when articles and posts get deleted too. But even more fun when you screen shot it before they take it down.
It says slowing global warming, not that the earth has been cooling
