Temp Departure from normal so far this month.(to date). Great lakes and Ohio Valley the core of the cold. Interesting to see Louisiana there below normal.

Normal here, I'm fact it wasn't till yesterday monthly departure went below average.
I seem to recall this happening last year, heatwaves in May in Florida. Sounds like a typical thing before the wet season.
