I had a really interesting discussion today with Gavin Schmidt (Director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studiies) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavin_Schmidt. Really enlightening when in came to climate change and what he believes is both the governmental role in addressing climate change role and regarding what they are able to do right now (especially with trump in the white house). It was also really fun to talk to somebody actually more knowledgeable in the climate field than myself. Hopefully I'll be able to talk to him again sometime in the near future, really fascinating, smart guy.

8pm still in the 50s here. Doesn't feel like snow is on the way starting in 6 hrs

Temps at 4500'. Freezing line boring West to East but that is moving south. Not even that cold but all you need is -1C at that level for snow. Check out the blues in the image in Canada. WOW!

Just bleeding down from the Arctic. Poor Canada

Can you give a quick synopsis of what the conversation entailed? I know that he believes 100% of current warming is a result of man, and that he defends climate models.

Yeah, he said that based on climate research the earth would have cooled slightly in the past 100 years without human influence. He also thinks that carbon taxes, at least to a certain extent, are necessary but also agreed when I said that environmental regulations must be implemented in a way that doesn't harm the economy or (potentially) cause a recession. He said that in order to begin a turn away from carbon producing energy sources that the U.S should "Lead" meaning that because we are the most powerful, advanced nation, that it is "up to us to show developing countries how to be responsible with the environment". He said that realistically the best we can hope for is about 3-4F of warming and that is only if in the next few years action starts to be taken regarding carbon emissions. He said he is a strong advocate of the paris agreement and hopes it will lead to worldwide action. He really doesn't like trump (Obviously) and when I asked about some high profile climate change skeptics he said they were "just totally wrong". In my opinion he seemed 100% genuine in his beliefs and though he agrees that some climate models are wrong (as I pointed out) he said that they are "the best thing we have" and that "although they aren't always spot on, they give us enough of a picture of what is going to happen that we can fill in the missing pieces". Like I said before he seemed like a really nice guy and is clearly extremely intelligent and knowledgeable.

Jizan is at 16°N which is pretty far south for a desert climate and it is on the coast. Anyway, Monroe could possibly get 6 inches of snow by tomorrow morning.

Mecca is at 21.5 N and averages 94/70 in March. I don't see how it's so surprising Jizan (lol at the name) at 16 N being this hot in March.....
