For places around 49-50N, I guess Cherbourg's 5:59 am - 10:18 pm (summer) // 9:01 am - 5: 09 pm (winter) rise/set times would be among the most skewed towards the evening.

A Thunder Bay with moderate temps would be Paris. Their times are almost identical! I think Paris is near ideal for its latitude, but I'd like seasonal differences to be slightly more pronounced. North of about 55N, the early summer sunrises and lowish summer sun start getting annoying though. I think Grande Prairie, Alberta has pretty darn good times, although a place further south like Grande Cache might be better.

This seems perfect, but I'd change it just a little bit:

7:30-15:30 in winter
6:30-22:30 in summer

Those times would be perfect for me. Zagreb is not too far from it in winter, but the summer sunsets are just too early.

I actually love the early sunsets in winter. To me there's something very calming in the fact that the evening begins so early.

Grande Prairie is certainly better than Malmö and Lund daylight-wise due to brighter evenings and afternoons Shame about the temps though!

What do you think of my nearest daylight station?

You're too far north and your solar noons are too early! Pre-3 pm sunsetsand pre-4 am sunrises are a big no-no. At your latitude solar noons about 45 minutes later would be preferable. Summer sunsets would be very late though.

I agree. Stavanger is gorgeous in that aspect:

Winter mornings would be depressive, but the later sunsets in early spring more than compensates for that Civil twilight lasting until 18:45 on Feb 28 is marvellous for this latitude.

Yeah, Stavanger is nigh ideal for its latitude. A bit too far north for me though.

I'd say 6 am to 9 pm is an ideal summer daylength. That's a solar noon of 1:30 pm. In winter, that's a day of about 8 am to 5 pm. A rather late sunrise, but it's solstice and I'm estimating. This would be around 45°N, right?
