I know the Bingley weather station is not best sited for cold nights (i.e. on a hillside and not in the valley), but something just seems to stop it from getting as cold at night as it used to no matter how cold the days are. If you look back at the 80s it used to be easy to get cold snaps where we'd get a string of lows at -4C or below, but nowadays we've only been below -4C once since 2013

An average January here. No thunderstorms (one system died in its ass the second it got here). Had some humid outbreaks during the first half of the month with dewpoints hitting 23-24C multiple times.

This month was of the coldest Januaries of the last decades in the weather history of my city. It wasn't wet (as usual), but near to the climatic averages. I would prefer a bit more precipitation. Sunshine levels were low (in ogimet we have missing data so I don't know exactly).

surprisingly high record low for the cold average. usually gothenburg has 3-4C warmer abs minimums.

Even above average, BA summer is still better than others subtropical places like in Southern US or East Asia.
