Do you think that the lower 48 states of America will ever see a repeat of the super arctic outbreaks that happened during the 1960's 1970's and 1980's?

It did happen already, February and March 2015 were the coldest since the late 70s in the Northeast

If we look at climate records no period of time compares to the 60s-80s... they were not a normal period of time at all. I think to see a 30 year period like that again is not too common but to see a few years similar is common. I also feel that it's unfair to use 30 year periods of record and the 60s-80s are a prime example why, as are the 30s-50s. We should use 60 year periods imo. Also individual years similar to 60s-80s happen here and there, 2014 a good example.

Muslim12, you've got a very good point; the 1960's through the 1980's were an unusual period of recordbesides that, you are also correct about mentioning the fact that single years similar to the 1960's-1980's still can occur here and there, bravo on making this sort of connectionI also agree that climate normals really ought to constitute a much larger ne'er period of record than using only a 30 year period of record. I personally think that climate data should have a period of record of at least 80 years, if not last longer. Kudos to you, your observation and your post on this thread
