So funny seeing so many snow pics this Spring Photo thread. I don't remember other years going into May still seeing them. lol

Nice close ups, 3 weeks behind me. Cool to see the Beavers work. A little wind and that tree is down.

You live in one of the best spots. A dream of mine actually. Air must be so clean there. How close is the downtown commercial areas from there? Do you get stuff delivered by Helicopter? lol

Looks like more heavy rain possible on Wednesday, then maybe a dry spell.
Before the rain last night, the topsoil was getting kind of dry as most of the rain came earlier in the month (much of it just on one day).
Yeah, that 12.65" will be so fake when looking back at wet Aprils. It only came from 2 days!
Here's my daily precip totals.. Half your total but Top 10 wettest. Been so annoying I have to admit. 12 of last 13 days with precip! I'd rather have flash flooding 2 days of record rains instead. And misting is a _____!

We are not that isolated, the first town with some real commercial area is at just 5 minutes of car from here. And the view from there is as interesting, if not better, than ours.
As Rozenn can surely confirm, my valley has actually a really strong human presence, with lots of municipalities, infrastructures and even industrial areas. We have two international roads, a motorway and a railway that connect Turin to France and completely cross the valley, which make transport really easy. On the other hand, this also make our valley much less impressive than our "wilder" neighbours.
Between being busy and the clouds I haven't had chance for pics or closeups.
May 2, 2017.
After another dreary overcast sky this morning, clouds are breaking up and some sun shining through. A commodity lately. (Only 3 sunny days last 2 weeks!)
Couple road pics. "Mint Green Look". Buds opening up and we're finally leafing out there. Some trees full, some still buds (mostly Oaks)
We should be getting deep green & full by Mid May.

We'll look like that in about two weeks I think. It's hard to say though because our trees are very monocultural, and in the city, 95% of broadleafs are birches (we're the officially the city of ****ing birches), and they are among the earliers leafers. Maples won't leaf until perhaps around the 20th? Oaks and aspen will leaf in June probably.
This post is now dedicated to woody plants. We've finally left spring purgatory, and now things are starting to actually happen, so I'll probably be making more posts in this thread the next couple of weeks I guess. Just a warning.
Our first green tree! It's not leafed however, only the goat willow's catkins are green. This happened roughly a week or so earlier last year IIRC.
Leaves on some bush.
Leaves on blackcurrant.
Almost leaves on gooseberry.
Soon-to-be leaves on a rowan.
Gently opening the bud. Definitely leaves there!
And here's its korean cousin. Last year these opened extremely early, in March IIRC, and then the leaf "bouqet" stayed yellow for over a month until real green leaves finally came (don't remember if the yellow leaves turned green or if there grew entirely new leaves).
Bird cherry with red leaves (I've been calling these wild cherry lol, apparently wild cherry is a completely different thing)
Same bird cherry but this time with green leaves. Would you consider this bud officially leafed out? The tree will probably be green in a week's time, perhaps even less, which would make it equal with last year's first one that I found at least.
And then there's a real cherry producing cherry as well. Not as far along as the bird varieties... I guess it's hard to tell from this macro shot, but does anyone know if it's a sour cherry or a sweet cherry? I've never thought of there being two different kinds of cherries, and I've always loved the flavor of the cherries that grow in Umeå.
Excuse my phone's poor focusing capabilities... Either way, here's a completely gone-feral flower. It's over ten meters away from the nearest flowerbed, on a completely different patch of grass as well. It's a very late bloomer as well. These were blooming in the end of March this year.
Btw, Ariete, surely your Tuomi must be leafed out by now? At least the first few?
How about you Jakobsli? How are your bird cherries doing?
