Yikes, really?? The winter of '47 was one of the worst every experienced in Britain - great hardship due to heating fuel shortages and the inability to keep the roads clear. Lots of deaths resulted.
I was in the UK during the summer of '76 - severe drought and unusually high temperatures turned the grass beige and made indoor activities uncomfortable. Water rationing was in effect in England and Wales, and the heather bloomed a full month early in Scotland due to the heat. My friends and I even went "paddling in the burn" on a trip to the West Highlands - a small stream conveniently located close to a pull-out on a very scenic single-track road. Try that during a typical Scottish summer, and you'd get frostbite!
Probably the blizzard of '13 ("Nemo") and the record-breaking month of Feb '15 for central LI!
For Austin, we get epic storms with 50mph wind gusts semi-often throughout the spring so can't ask for much more. The cold snap of 1949 was petty epic tho.

The northeast US ice storm of 1972 (73?) that locked in that entire part of the country in a solid thick, thick coating of ice that made it impossible to walk outside, or open doors of houses or cars... & I was "trapped" inside with a hot 23 yo woman for a couple of days & we had plenty of time on our hands...
And a picture of the White Christmas in Jacksonville, FL
As weird as it sounds, I think it would be cool to experience record breaking cold while visiting Florida. I've only been there when it's warm/hot and humid.
Christmas 1989 was the coldest on record here with a low of -11 F/-24 C Christmas Eve and -12 F/-24 C Christmas Day. Christmas 1990 was the complete opposite with a record high of 65 F/18 C. My first Christmas was the warmest on record. Very unreliable time of year for snow and cold.
I would like to experience a colder version of April 2007 again.
